Link's knowing sideglance:
This was usually an artwork with both Link and Epona in it, Link looking at his horse with love in his eyes. I finally realized, after a lot of trying around, that I just can't draw horses, so I decided to cut out Link's head and make a portrait of it.
All drawn with Photoshop, using a Genius Pensketch Tablet 9 by 12 inches and the hard round brush as well as smudge tool.
I did an error with the colours because of the background, which was green. I coloured Link's face all in different shades of green, so I had to use the hue/saturation layer to make him look like a hylian and not like a zombie. But this resulted in the eyes being brown and not blue, sorry ... I'll do it right next time :D!
The Hero's Tunic and Undergarments:
Hero's Tunic from Hyrule Historia |
Okay, you surely know what Link's clothes look like, and what the Hero's tunic is composed of, therefore I only made two sketches of what I think his undergarments might look like, which you don't really see while looking at his clothes. It is a new version of a sketchbook page I'm currently trying out, with the drawn images a little refined and the text written with Photoshop. So here the Hero's Tunic front, side and back from Hyrule Historia, and my version, the Hero's Undergarments!
Hero's Undergarments (lol) |
Princess Zelda's royal clothes - sketches
For the encounter with Princess Zelda in my novel, I decided to make some research on her clothing.
Link's ears - sketches
Here some sketches I made of Link's ears according to his mood. All the portraits are drawn by me, but the theory with the ears does not appear in the game and is merely an invention of myself to better show Link's mood. And because I simply love his ears!!!
Ordon clothing
Here some sketches I did before writing the first chapter. They tell of my research on Ordon's clothing style and what I think is their cultural meaning and practical role. I just hope you can read my writing, I'm a left hander (like Link!!!) so I write really badly sometimes when I'm in a hurry.
Link
Side View |
Front View |
Second sketch of Link. Here I took one second of the scene where he runs after the bulblins that have just kidnapped Colin and Ilia. I take the videos from ZREO, the quality is extremily good and I can put the screen on full and stop to watch little details.
Three-Quarter View |
Third sketch of Link. Here I took Link when he speaks with Bo about the gift to be delivered. This is the best sketch I did so far from him, there are perhaps just the lips that are a bit strange. I'm still learning, so don't be too hard on me ^^.
Midna
Sketches of Midna without her Fused Shadow. I wanted to see the imp below the huge crown, to know her a bit better. So I drew her left eye as well and added a nice long pony-tail. Here she looks happy, a little cheeky as always with her small tooth sticking out, but my favourite part of her are her ears. I simply love long pointy ears. Link's are my favourite ones, but I like Midna's very much too.
From the back. I tried to make her look naked without too much nudity (for the younger ones among you)
Little imperfection: the shoulders are a little too broad, sorry about that.
From the side. I removed the arms since I didn't know where to put them. One could think that the belly is too big, but she is exactly like that on the Hyrule Historia sketches.
I don't know if her hair is really that long, but I like it like this.
The worst version of her, according to me. I tried to draw her in a three-quarter view (the most difficult in drawing) and ended up sketching her as if I looked at her from the top right. The only thing I'm proud of in this picture is the fairy which I just drew so that Midna had something to look at.
Again, these are just sketches, so if I draw them on the computer it will turn out much better, since normally I can see where I did mistakes and correct them with Photoshop.
These are really great! The amount of work put in is astounding, it definitely helps me envision 'The Dolor Mortis Curse'. Thank you for posting these!
ReplyDeleteWell, all I can say is that you are a much much much better artist than I am, keep at it, helps me see stuff in the stories better
