About Me

Hi, and welcome to my blog! My name is DragonRing and on this site, I'll be showing you all the work I've done so far for my Twilight Princess Novel and fan art featuring the franchise in common.

About me:

The most important (or not) facts: I'm a 19 year old female, my true name is Mara, I'm 1m 54 tall and I'm a lefthander. I'm fluent in High German, French and English and I currently live in Germany with my grandparents. Hobbies are writing, reading, sleeping and driving around in my Renault 5 called Louis.

First you have to know that my mother language is not English. I've so to say relearned it in about two years by reading in English, writing in English and watching English television and movies. So if ever you find a phrase or expression which you definitely can't say in English, please tell me! I'm always open for corrections and stuff to learn in this wonderful language, so feel free to contact me if you see anything.
My DragonRing

My pseudonym DragonRing comes from that little ring with two dragonheads, I'm sure you already saw that! It's a medieval remake from a reenactment store, and I really love it! Whenever I'm doing a piece of art which includes a picture diary, as I call them, you'll be seeing that little ring on my thumb or index finger. Just so I have something to characterise me and my work!

Well, about the web: I'm not very confident in the entire Internet business, therefore I don't have a facebook account of anything of that stuff. But if you want to know something of me, feel free to send me a good old-fashioned e-mail. I will only reply to them, being polite and readable.

About my writing:

Even though on some of the images in the picture diaries, I look like a little, all-too-sweet girl, you'll probably be disabused. In reality, I'm a cruel, violent, blood-thirsty monster!!! Wahaha! When it comes to my writing, that is. I don't know why but I have a special pleasure in hurting and torturing the characters in my stories. A favourite torture form of mine is near-drowning, for it fascinates me just how damn painful it can be.

And then, I can be the little, all-too-sweet girl you see on the pictures. I like Love, friendship and happy moments between my characters, conflicts are not really my kind of preferable interaction. But don't let that turn you down, if you like that kind of thing. I'll be letting Midna get really mean to Link and induce disputes a bit everywhere. I'll just have to pratice ...

I don't like to boast, but I think that I have a certain feeling for a good chapter flow and am able to write interestingly and entertainingly. My principal strengths are descriptions. Spaces, locations and rooms which the characters are seeing, as well as describing the functionalities of a state or country and bringing in all kinds of details which are needed in a working world, fiction or not. I can think of the smallest of details which add to the quality and accuracy of a realistic story. Alternatively, I can feel into a person and describe their feelings in various scenes and conditions, displaying the perceived feelings with physical as well as psychological aspects and sometimes using abstract adjectives which another would normally not use to describe a certain feeling.

Again as said before, there may be some sentences that don't make sense due to my lack of experience in the language. Don't slap me, help me find them and correct them, I'd be really delighted!

About my job:

Welding
My job is not really important, but for all those who want to learn a little more about me, here a little description.
I'm apprenticed in a locksmithery, am working from 7 am to 4 pm every day of the week except mondays where I'm at school, sometimes working even on saturdays, and this is what I'm mostly doing:

  • working with angle grinders,
  • with welding equipment,
  • files
  • drills
  • saws
  • and all sorts of small handheld tools
  • Angle grinder
  • installing the finished building elements

 The finished building elements include:
  • railings
  • balconies
  • canopies
  • gates
  • doorframes
  • burglary repairs
  • installation of fireproof doors
  • special client wishes

By the way, that's not me working on the pictures, just in case you wondered. But I'm looking quite similar with such a black mask on my head, except that I'm 50 cm shorter *chuckle*

Here a few pictures of the workshop as well as stuff we already built (or were currently installing at that time)

My working table, with a great view on the rest of the hall in which we're working. In the background you can see our long Kaltenbach saw as well as ''Little Mule'', our yellow lifting car. She's really strong and useful, especially for a small girl like me. Ah, and my angle grinder ''Christine'' is resting in the foreground. She's a bad bad angle grinder... xD

The other side of my working table, with the green punch press, turquoise band saw and sheet guillotine to the left.
I was busy making some anchor plates for a steel balcony as well as steps for stairs.

The very first railing I built and welded (almost) entirely on my own! The client was more that happy!

This is what they looked like before being galvanized, then powder-coated and adorned with a stainless steel handrail.

Wether you want an awning over you front door...

... or your garage roof getting enlarged...

... or a nice pergola with curtains and a marquise on top to shut our the sun on scorching summer days...

... or a brand-new steel balcony to enjoy the stunning view of vineyards and old buildings behind your house on summer evenings ...

... of course with an individual glass roof over it should the unwanted rain drop down onto your tables and guests ...

... or are just in need of an elegant stainless steel support to help you down your steep stairs ...

... then you need a locksmith like me to do the job. Of course we also exchange your old locks with new ones should your door refuse to close properly.

A locksmith, being a master in the welding techniche, can also bring broke-down cars back to their former glory. My boss and master is a fan of VW T3 Campervans, like me!, and has three or four of them. He made a wreck like this one ...

into a gem like this beauty!

Okay, that's enough for the start. :D

About my art:

Now when I say art, it's a little overstated. What I merely do is painting a few scenes from my novel on photoshop, do research on the culture of Hyrule and neighbouring provinces in form of sketches with little comments next to them. These represent my personal view and opinion and do not especially represent the truth about what Nintendo thought and designed in the game, or your personal opinions. Yet I thought it could be helpful for my writing to do this kind of research, for it opens up the eyes to very small, seemingly insignificant details not seen the times I played the game. And perhaps I'll reveal things not even you knew about Twilight Princess!

I made two artworks on paper, one being the Twilight Princess cover photographed and modified, the other being two pages of a history book which appears in my diversion 'The Dolor Mortis Curse' from Stephonika Kaye's chapter 37 - The Curse.

Pencil drawing photographed and modified on Photo Galery

Two pages of 'The Golden Triangle', last chapter: The Hero Chosen by the Goddesses

A second art material I use is metal. Yeah, metal! Locksmithery at her finest! Plain talking, I sometimes just have an urge to do something, so I grab a piece of metal found in my dad's garage, work on it with all kinds of machines and hand-tools, and out comes ...

Okay, I think that's enough for the start. Enjoy your stopover here!
